Lincoln County Indivisible Campaign Against Hunger Kickoff

  • 51 Main Street Newcastle, ME, 04553 United States (map)

This Thursday, May 8th, 5.30-7.30 pm, Lincoln County Indivisible is kicking off a Campaign Against Hunger with a meeting in the Second Congregational Church in Newcastle. We will highlight threats to essential hunger mitigating programs.

Speakers include:

  • Colleen Frawley (Full Plates, Full Potential), describing the ‘big picture’ in terms of food insecurity and actual and threatened federal funding cuts

  • Leifa Gordon, Healthy Lincoln County, refining this for Lincoln County

  • Ryan Dennett (MOFGA), filling in the details on impacts to farmers

  • Heather Arvidson (MCHPP), speaking about SNAP and food pantry cuts

  • Eric Berman (Veggies to Table), from a non-profit supplying healthy food

  • Ellen Dickens (Ecumenical Food Pantry), leader of the Ecumenical Food Pantry

We view this meeting as the launch pad for ongoing actions such as small rallies in multiple locations. We will raise awareness on food insecurity issues by handing out leaflets and engaging in conversations with strangers. By connecting at the level of shared values, we can start to shift the needle on this and other issues related to cuts emanating from DC.

Put the meeting on your calendars and come prepared to discuss, and sign up for, ongoing action!

Thursday, May 8th, 5.30-7.30 pm, Second Congregational Church, Newcastle.
