“With or Without Him”

GROUPS PLAN TOWN HALL MEETING FOR JARED GOLDEN IN BANGOR

People interested in sharing their concerns with US Representative Jared Golden are invited to attend a

public Town Hall in Bangor. The meeting will run from 4 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, March 22 at the Bangor

Public Library, 145 Harlow Street, in the Atrium on the first floor. Second District Congressman Jared

Golden has been invited to attend in person and listen to the concerns of his constituents. The

organizers have stated “We’re saving a seat for Jared and the Town Hall will be held with or without

him”.

According to a press release, questions and statements addressed to Congressman Golden may be

submitted in advance by those who cannot attend in person. The deadline for submittals is March 20, to

the following email address: indivisiblebangor@gmail.com. All questions and written statements will be

sent to the Congressman. The meeting will be video recorded, with the recording broadcast later. There

will be a time limit of 2 minutes for any question or statement from the floor. The meeting will be

moderated by Jack McKay and Shawn Yardley, both well known in Bangor for their work protecting

democracy and supporting local communities.

Indivisible member Elliot Benjamin of Winterport explained why this meeting is being held. “We hope that

this meeting will help ALL our elected officials understand how seriously we regard the situation that the

nation is in. Truly it is a Constitutional crisis, a grave danger to democracy. People living here are being

hurt by the capricious actions of the unelected bureaucrat Elon Musk and the other unqualified members

of the current cabinet. We have a first amendment right to make our views known, and we intend to do

so.”

Melissa Berky who lives in Bangor, said she is a Democrat who has voted for Representative Golden. “I

have frequently expressed my views to him and his staff but I don't feel that he is listening. I'd really like

him to answer why he continues to vote with the Republicans and why he doesn't see his actions as a

betrayal of us".

Linda Mosley of Hampden added: “The current Congress is spinning out of control. They no longer are

honoring their oath to uphold the Constitution, which says that the Congress decides the laws including

the budget. The President is supposed to faithfully execute what the Congress has decided. We don’t

see that happening.”

The organizations sponsoring the Town Hall meeting include: Indivisible Bangor, Indivisible Waldo

County, Indivisible Peninsula (Blue Hill area), Acadia Action (Gouldsboro and surrounding towns), Sweet

Fern MDI (Mount Desert Island area), Waldo County Peace and Justice, Food AND Medicine, Maine

Peoples Alliance, Greater Bangor Area Branch NAACP, Solidarity Bucksport, Eastern Maine Labor

Council, Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine.
